NO-FEAR

Network Of practitioners For Emergency medicAl systems and cRitical care

NO-FEAR is a 5-year (June 2018 – May 2023) Coordination and Support Action project that will bring together a pan-European and beyond network of emergency medical care practitioners, suppliers, decision and policy makers to collaborate and exchange knowledge, good practices, and lessons learned. Members of the network will have the opportunity to work together and collaborate to develop a common understanding of the innovation potential that fills operational gaps and pinpoint areas for future research. This multi-disciplinary, multi-national, and multi-sectorial collaboration will be supported by virtual tools, including the NO-FEAR platform and networking events (e.g., workshops, demonstrations, exercises) every 6 months.

About

Emergency medical care plays a critical role in assisting casualties after security incidents. However, there are a number of challenges that the Emergency Medical System (EMS) needs to address, including a fragmented chain of actors, the need to respond to new threats, a lack of communication between practitioners and suppliers, and no common methodologies and standardized actions. Click here to find out how the NO-FEAR project will address these challenges.

Networks

NO-FEAR includes two networks that will interact;

  • the practitioners, decision and policy makers network, and
  • the supplier and academia network.

Click here to learn more about each network,
their role in the project, and the benefits of joining the network.

Objectives

The main objectives of the NO-FEAR project are to:

  • Overcome the fragmentation in the Emergency Medical System,
  • Facilitate cooperation between practitioners, academia, and industry,
  • Build a common vision on needs, gaps and innovations by creating and operating a network of stakeholders involved in acute care in security related incidents, and
  • Identify standardisation priorities

Work Plan

The NO-FEAR project is comprised of six work packages. Three work packages are dedicated to  the three pillars of the project: acute care of the  patient (WP3), acute care operations in security  related incidents (WP4), and training of personnel  (WP5). The activities undertaken in the three pillars will be supported by the networks and the advisory board (WP2), the analysis of the ethical human, social and legal issues (WP1), the innovation, standard and procurement activities (WP6) and disseminated by WP2. The NO-FEAR Work Breakdown Structure can be viewed here.
